The Zuni Pueblo people of northwest New Mexico are world renown for their creativity and skill in stone carving. Zuni fetishes are used for specific purposes such as healing, protection, hunting and fishing. These carvings are a delight to the eye and heart.
Each Carving comes with its own certificate of authenticity letting you know who the carver is and what materials are used to create these magnificent Zuni carvings.
This fanciful turtle was carved by Navajo carver Jayne Quam, wife of Zuni fetish carver Lynn Quam. The turtle's green body is carved out of gaspeite while its back, or shell, is a colorful array of different stones and shells mosaiced together to create a celestial scene.
