The Zuni Pueblo people of northwest New Mexico are world renown for their creativity and skill in stone carving. Zuni fetishes are used for specific purposes such as healing, protection, hunting and fishing. These carvings are a delight to the eye and heart.
Each Carving comes with its own certificate of authenticity letting you know who the carver is and what materials are used to create these magnificent Zuni carvings.
This is a wonderful buffalo fetish created by expert Zuni carver Lynn Quam. The body of the buffalo is carved out of a substantial piece of gaspeite with beautiful shades of green and swirls of brown throughout. The buffalo's horns are fossilized walrus ivory.
