Multi-colored Mosaic Kewa Pueblo Necklace by Mary Tafoya
Mary Tafoya is a very well-known jeweler from Kewa Pueblo (formerly known as Santo Domingo Pueblo) in New Mexico. Her unique designs arise from the traditional mosaic inlay jewelry which the jewelers in her Pueblo are well-known for, and which have been being made for many centuries. Mary’s work highly sought after.
This necklace is strung on turquoise. The six smaller tabs and the center tab are all inlayed on to green serpentine. The inlayed stones and shell include lapis, spiny oyster shell, turquoise, catlinite, a variety of different jaspers, jet and shell.
